The Nurture Scheme

We have a Nurture Team who work across all our services to support neurodivergent children and children with medical needs. The team is made up of the Nuture Lead and Sure Start Speech and Language therapists.

The Nurture Team:

• provide a holistic programme of services and promote inclusion and equality
• provide support for children with their communication, physical skills and sensory development
• help with making referrals to specialist services
• have strong partnerships with therapists and other professionals
• recognise that each child is an individual with different skills, strengths, and needs
• believe that all children can, and do, learn in their own time.

We recognise there is no one right way to play, move or communicate so we ensure children can benefit from a wide range of opportunities to help them grow and learn.

We value input from families and aim to work together to support each child. We work closely with parents, exploring and exchanging ideas to support the child’s development at home and in our setting.

To support children to flourish we aim to create environments and

programmes that celebrate the uniqueness of each child and nurture their development.

• Little Learners programme for children in their pre-nursery year
• Play and Discover: Parent and Child Together group focusing on communication
• Home support
• Parent Nurture Space (Parent/carer support group)
• Sensory play workshops
• Sensory room
• Sensory Lending Library
